Judi GatsonJudi Gatson is on KISS 103.1 as well as WIS News 10 where she co-anchors Live at 5 and the News at 6.

She’s also the Consumer Reporter.  Judi’s always looking for ways to help people save money.  Her popular "Buy It and Try It" series puts products to the test to see if they really work as advertised.  She also produces the “Consumer Alert,” which exposes scams and warns viewers about defective products.  Earlier this year, Judi even went dumpster diving to show just how easy it is to steal someone’s identity.  She also gave viewers practical tips on protecting their identities and set-up free shredding services.

Judi majored in Business Management but after a college internship at WTHR Channel 13 in Indianapolis, IN  she decided to pursue a career in broadcasting.  Judi landed her first job as a reporter for WIS News Radio 1320am.  She proved to be a quick study and earned a reputation for hard work.   And in just a few months, Judi was recruited to work WIS Television.

After reporting for nearly a year, Judi was promoted to anchor WIS News 10 Saturday Morning.  In 1997 she had to set her alarm for a much earlier wake-up call to anchor WIS First News and Sunrise.  She also spent two years as the host and executive producer of the WIS community affairs program, Awareness.

During her 11 years at WIS Judi has covered a wide range of stories including presidential debates, gubernatorial inaugurations, education and consumer issues.  Some of her most memorable assignments include live reports from the funeral of Coretta Scott King, live reports from McClellanville during Hurricane Charley, hosting and producing a documentary about the Confederate Flag debate, and “Into the Fire” where Judi went through fire fighter training and then went inside of a burning building to show the technology fire fighters use to rescue people faster.

Judi has won Associated Press Awards for Business/Consumer reporting and Education reporting.  She’s also a member of the WIS News Team that won two Emmy’s for Best Newscast.

Judi is also known for her community involvement.  She currently serves on the boards of Healthy Learners , the Palmetto Health South Carolina Cancer Center, Palmetto Center for Women, United Way’s Palmetto Society and Koban Columbia, Incorporated.  Judi is married to Dwayne Gatson, who retired in October 2006 as a Lt. Colonel in the United States Army.  Judi and Dwayne are members of Brookland Baptist Church in West Columbia.  In March of this year they added two new members to their family, Shadow and Spirit, chocolate and yellow labs.
